About

ABOUT THE TA&D NETWORK

The Technical Assistance and Dissemination Network (or “TA&D Network”) is a network of approximately 45 Centers (this fluctuates as old projects end or new ones begin) funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). These projects provide information and technical assistance to states, schools, educational professionals and families, on topics such as autism, deafness, disproportional representation, dispute resolution, learning disabilities, parenting children with special needs, positive behavior support and transition.

The TACC works with the TA&D Network to coordinate and support the work of these projects.

ABOUT THE TACC

The Technical Assistance Coordination Center (TACC) was formed in 2008 to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and communication between the Technical Assistance Centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).

Broadly, TACCs thematic mandate is to help create and support:
  • Collaboration and coordination across Centers
  • Reduced duplication of effort
  • Maximized use of funds by leveraging the numbers in the network to provide less-expensive service options
  • Management of multiple conferences and providing Conference Services across the TA&D Network
  • Information Databases for TA&D Network use
  • Webinar technology, services and support
  • Technical assistance that crosses over platforms and reaches the broadest possible audience
The TACC is based in Washington, DC at FHI 360, a non-profit education and development organization. The TACC is funded by a five-year grant from OSEP.

HOW TO CONNECT

SOME ADDITIONAL RELEVANT TOPICS

  • GPRA
The Government Results and Performance Act (GPRA) requires OSEP to respond to four performance measures:

    • ensuring their work is of high quality,
    • ensuring relevance of the work
    • ensuring the usefulness of the work and
    • ensuring the cost of technical assistance per unit.

All OSEP funded centers are required to address these measures in their work.
Information about GPRA and updates from OSEP on this work are shared during a center’s kick-off meeting and regularly at the TA&D Conference (generally in March) and the Project Directors meeting (generally in July). Centers are required to report on the GPRA measures in their continuation reports due annually in April. TACC schedules informal informational calls prior to the submission of the continuation reports for centers to discuss any challenges they are facing.

  • IDEA
IDEA.ed.gov was created to provide a "one-stop shop" for resources related to IDEA and its implementing regulations, released on August 3, 2006. It is a "living" website that changes and grows as resources and information become available. The site provides searchable versions of IDEA and the regulations, access to cross-referenced content from other laws (e.g., the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), etc.), video clips on selected topics, topic briefs on selected regulations, links to OSEP's TA&D Network, a Q&A Corner where you can submit questions, and a variety of other information sources.

  • WEBSITE PROTOCOLS
All OSEP funded centers that are required to maintain a web site must ensure that their web site is Section 508 compliant. This ensures that all individuals with disabilities will be able to access any information available on these sites.

Additionally all TA&D Center will be entering their data directly into the TACC databases that will be available in a variety of places across the TA&D Network of sites. This information will be maintained by each individual center. Each center will keep their information up to date so it is useful to visitors of the site including the rest of the TA&D Network. Specific information about these databases and how to enter data will be coming soon to each center.
